work-based learning Use cases
In 2024 Kelly authored and Veronika developed 350 pages of a mathematics textbook designed for edge learners who are not passing high school math. So far, no one likes the book because “it doesn’t look like a math book.” It syncs with the 2023 CA Mathematics Framework Revisions and resonates with students who reviewed. We received partial funding to develop the project from a school district, based on a grant we wrote. The last 1/3 of the funding and the project faded into the sunset because of its poor reception with mathematics teachers. Kelly and Veronika find value in the book and in 2025 we are repurposing the units as standalone WBL to be posted on the Livable Wage Jobs Lab at ResearchGate.net.
On ResearchGate, in 2024 we published the screen reader versions of Mathematics for Game Developers Teacher and Student Editions (English and Spanish) and Review Algebra (English and Spanish). The Spanish version of Review Algebra, Repaso de Ćlgebra: Libro de CapacitaciĆ³n, was published in early 2024.
